About Tokyo Gadget — Author & Editorial Policy
Who this site is for
Tokyo Gadget is a Japan-specific guide for English speakers living in Japan. The products we cover are sold on Japan’s Amazon (amazon.co.jp) and Rakuten, and our advice assumes Japanese conditions — PSE certification, Japan’s 100V mains, domestic warranty, and local shipping. If you’re outside Japan, availability, plugs, voltage, and pricing may differ.
Site overview
- Site name: Tokyo Gadget
- Purpose: explain smartphone accessories (chargers, power banks, cables, wireless charging, portable power stations) clearly for beginners, in English and Japanese

Author
- Operator & author: Yusuke
- Background: based outside Japan (in Thailand), using chargers and power banks daily for commuting, work, and travel. With long experience living abroad, I have hands-on familiarity with international charging conditions (voltage, plugs, carry-on rules).
- Gear I actually own and use (examples): multi-port GaN chargers, a cable-integrated power bank, a durable USB-C cable, a USB-C hub, a USB power strip, and more. Products I own and use are marked “Owner uses this,” with honest impressions and weak points.
I don’t list unverifiable qualifications or credentials. Experience-based statements are my own impressions.
Editorial policy
- How we choose products: public specs, supported standards (USB PD / Qi2, etc.), safety certification (PSE, etc.), review trends, and fit for the use case. Owned items add real-use impressions.
- Spec vs measured: we clearly separate manufacturer figures from what we’ve actually verified. We never present unmeasured values as measured.
- Both pros and cons: we write the drawbacks and cautions, not just the upsides.
- Editorial independence: we work to keep affiliate revenue from influencing rankings or conclusions. Compensation doesn’t change our assessment.
- Provided products: if a maker provides a product, we state so near that item.
- Corrections & updates: we fix errors promptly and show an updated date for significant changes. Prices, stock, and review counts change—check each product page before buying.
- Verification status: hands-on articles are marked “hands-on tested,” and public-spec comparisons “spec comparison.”
